Jan. 2, 2008 – People with cancer benefit from the addition of well-known medical oncologist Gail Bender, M.D., to the physician team at Fairview Southdale Hospital Medical Oncology Clinic.

A board-certified medical oncologist in private practice for more than 26 years, Bender describes her approach to cancer treatment as aggressive and innovative, providing a range of treatment options for each patient. “I provide education, expertise and recommendations so that patients can make the appropriate decision for themselves, family and lifestyle,” says Bender. Warm memories of her grandmother’s cooking influence her approach to cancer care: “Like a cook, an oncologist mixes and simmers the ingredients to create a treatment plan that is unique for each patient.”

Bender joins medical oncologists Barbara Bowers, M.D., Li Ge, M.D., and Imran Ahmed, M.D., in the practice, which is dedicated to personalized cancer care. She earned her medical degree at University of Minnesota Medical School-Twin Cities and completed her internal medicine residency at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Her advanced training includes completing a fellowship in hematology and oncology.
