Because breast cancers can be genetically passed on, Fairview Southdale Breast Center’s high-risk clinic offers genetic counseling and genetic testing for those who may be at high risk of developing breast cancer. If a high-risk is identified, Breast Center staff works closely with the patient to develop an appropriate follow-up plan to reduce the risk of developing cancer and to increase the likelihood of discovering a cancer at a stage where it is most curable. We regularly screen high risk patients, because the best breast cancer defense is early detection.
