The Fairview Southdale Hospital Weight Loss Surgery Support Group is a patient-lead forum that meets monthly at the hospital. Facilitated by our staff, the support group shares experiences, provides encouragement,and education and is open to those who have had weight loss surgery, are scheduled for surgery or are considering surgery.  Join us any time. No reservations required. Support group meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month, 6 - 7:30 p.m., in Fairview Southdale Hospital's Au Fait Nursing Education Room, located on the lower level of the hospital.

Wednesday, Jan. 20 – Nicole Breckt will demonstrate how to use Kettlebells that are used for strength training to improve weight loss, agility, explosiveness, stamina and flexibility simultaneously.

Wednesday, Feb. 17 – “Let’s Talk” - We will take this month to share and learn from each other.

Wednesday, April 21 – Pharmacist Kari Schmaltz, PharmD, will talk about medications. Bring your questions.  well.

Wednesday, May 19 – Dietitian Sally Hesse, RD, LD, will share great ideas for healthy summer dining.

Wednesday, June 16 –  Annual picnic. Share good conversation with former and future patients. Bring a dish to pass. Beverages and tableware provided.

Wednesday, July 21 – Julia Reid, PhD LP, Clinical Psychologist from Fairview Counseling Centers,  will discuss maintaining relationships during change and common thought distortions around eating/weight loss.

Park in the Skyway ramp located on the corner of 65th and France and walk over the skyway to the hospital.  Take the elevators, to your left, or the stairs The conference rooms  two floors down  to the lower level.  Take the first hallway to the left,and follow it to the Au Fait Nursing Education Room, located at the end of the hall.
